The two NOLLYWOOD comedians Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki) and Osita Iheme (Paw paw) has been banned from shooting movies in our neighbouring country, Ghana.
The reason being that they do not have the work permit to work in Ghana. This has caused a lot uproar in the world of entertainment as the bilateral cordial relationship is about to be punctured.
The Ghanaian Authorities have however denied the fact that it was actually a ban. Speaking on the issue, the public relations officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) Ola Michael said they had no issues with the two actors, saying that they only instructed the movie director to tell the actors to know that they ought to have a work permit in order to work in Ghana. They therefore released an official order for them to go back to Nigeria and get the necessary documents that could enable them work in Ghana.
In retaliation, the Film, Video Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (FVPMAN) placed an embargo on Ghanaian films, halting the distribution of movies by independent producers, and maintaining that if such films must be distributed, its right of ownership should be transferred to the FVPMAN on negotiation.
At that time, a delegation from Ghana, led by the Chief Executive Officer of A.A Productions Limited, Mr. Mustapha Adams, sought peace with its host.
FVPMAN Chairman Mr. Norbert Ajaegbu told his visitors that the decision to ban Ghanaian movies was without prejudice. He said there was need to streamline the distribution of movies in Nigeria, especially when Nigeria is becoming a dumping ground for second-rate movies with nudity content.
