EXPOSED: HOW BAYELSA STATE GOVERNOR WASTED 4 BILLION NAIRA ON A WOMAN (BEAUTY PAGEANT)

This information was brought to us by saharareporters.

It was alleged that the Governor of Bayelsa state, has lavished about 4 billion naira alleged to be pensioners money in organizing a mere beauty contest. We were told that the exercise was organized by the silverbird group, but how it turned out to be a state affair is what we cannot explain for now.

Interviewing a a resident of Yenagoa, the state capital, who pleaded anonymous, he said  "Is this the way he will develop the state? It is rather shocking that while the masses are struggling with refuse heaps and crying for basic infrastructure, the politicians are spending the commonwealth of the state on trivial things as beauty pageants."

Bayelsa state is a very underdeveloped state despite the oil richness. It is paradoxical that a state with such amount of mineral resources, lacking almost every form of social infrastructure, has the money to sponsor beauty queens and entertainment shows. That not withstanding is that Bayelsa state pensioners went on a rampage weeks ago because of non payment of incentives to them by the Government. But the so-called Government has the money to sponsor entertainment gatherings while the masses are living in abject poverty. What a Nigeria! It might also interest you to know that this same Government has sponsored the African Movies entertainment shows in the past.

Now we have been told why the contestant from Bayelsa carried the day. It was simply a compensation to the Bayelsa Government for their kind gesture. It was gather that rewarding the government sponsorship, manipulated the results in favour of the Bayelsa contestant. Her performance in the interview segment before the live audience was abysmal and clearly inferior to that of the runner-up and this was observed in the fans as the development drew jeers from the crowd while fans of Miss Omo, who was declared runner up, left the hall in angrily. It is a pity.
