A gang of armed robbers this friday, 4th Oct, stormed Firstbank Plc-the branch at Okwelle in Onuimo LGA Imo state, at around 9am.
A female was among the gang who stole the whole money at the Okwelle branch of Firstbank.
According to an eye-witness, miss Onwudiwe Chima, a receptionist at the bank:
" We initially thought that it was the army people, until we heard the gunshots. They followed me into the bank and robbed the whole money in the bank. Then they demanded for the key to the ATM which the manager reluctantly released at gun point. They opened the ATM and ransacked it. Not even a five naira note is left in the bank, the lady emphatically stated.
She continues: " None of the staff were shot, the only man killed was shot by the lady among the gang. He was a trader beside the bank. He was walking along the bank road with phone in his ears, answering call. The lady warned him to steer clear, but he was foolhardy. She threw and orange fruit at him, but the young man was adamant. The lady then brought out her gun and sent him to the world beyond. She shot him several times." She concluded.
The manager of the bank also confirmed that the whole money in the bank was made away with by the gang.
A source also revealed the no security personnel dared approach the scene during the robbery incidence. The police came hours after they have fled.
The bank was badly damaged with ATM machine also dismantled. A source has revealed that the bank might not be functional for one year. Due to the robbery incidence.
