EXPOSED: WHY MOST NIGERIANS UNDERVALUE NIGERIAN MOVIES (NOLLYWOODMOVIES)-PART1

I once made this very particular research, concerning the reason why most Nigerians especially the students do not treat nigerian movies just as thy embrace the foreign ones. I do not know whether anybody has discovered this, that most Nigerians do treat their own movies with so much contempt.

Some has has attributed this lacklustre on the part of Nigerians to yheir own thing to the LOW LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE EXHIBITED IN VARIOUS nigerian movies. There are no new innovations that can trigger peoples interest. Most people I have encountered do say that watching Nigerian movies makes them think so low, it reduces their thinking faculty. And that is true because Nigerian movies lack what I can call the INHERENT FACTORS IN MOVIES. i.e something that can spur the audiences to action. Movies are meant for nothing but to EnTerTAIN, educate and probably to inform. So any movie that lacks any of these important criteria becomes uninteresting.

In movies the only thing that keeps the peoples drive alive and active is the phenomenon of SUSPENSE. Suspene is the act creating an act of curiosity in the mind of the viewers. A person watching a NIGERIAN MOVIE, can tell you what will happen in the next period of time. Infact some people can tell you what happens
in a movie just from the name of the MOVIE, probably by mere seeing the characters involved. The secret to anything entertaining to take people unawares, telling me what I know already or what I am expecting can never be entertain. It might educate or inform me, but that does not make any meaning at all. Enteainment is the prime target in any movie.

That is not all, Nigerian movies also lack ORIGINALITY IN INTENT. Even though it is just a dramatization of something that has happened or a fictious story, there should be some level of originality at least. We understand that some things are difficult to act or dramatise, probably by virtue of that being hazardous  such as road accidents, killing, swimming, etc or things that are unethical and immoral as having s..x. These things  are difficult to dramatise, but there is a way to make them look real and original.

Those are the things that keeps the viewer going. I wonder why do we watch foreign movies if not to learn the Way they do theirs.  There no gain doubting the fact that Nigeria is still developing, and asuch we may be technologically backward. Yes, that is true, but these are the areas where we can imitate our predecessors, the developed world. If we do not know we go there and learn it and come and integrate it into our own system. That is the essence of sending people abroad to study.

We shall stop here for now...thank you. We will appreciate you, if you have any clue as to why NiGERIAN MOVIES ARE UNDERVALUED BY MOST NIGERIANS, JUST DROP YOUR SAY BELOW AS a comment. Your voice does count.!

WHY PATIENCE OZORKWO ACTS THE WAY SHE ACTS IN HER MOVIES!

This is a very important question one ought to have asked oneself; why some nollywood actors and actresses act the way they do.

PATIENCE OZOKWOR, popularly nicknamed and known as SUSU (Susana), a name given to her after one of her movies which she bore that name OR MAMA-G; acts always as a witch, wizard, wicked wife or step wife, wicked queen, wicked fellow, etc. Why does she always act so wickedly? Always playing a role where people must curse and hate her. Have you bothered to ask yourself this very impressing question? Or have you bothered to also ask concerning other actors and actresses who always have one character unique to them.

Recently, a facebook fan of the popular SUSU, or PATIENCE OZOKWOR, asked her this particular question on her facebook page why she normally act so wickedly in her movies.

However, the old but young Mama-G, wisely evaded the question. She never made any proclamation concerning the question. All she did was to present the question to her fans. The fans were giving all sorts of answers, both relevant and irrelevant ones, rude and polite ones as well.

Some said, "you are actually wicked."

others argued, " you are not wicked in real life our dear mama."

well, we cannot conclude with the views of fans, some of which include even enemies who never wished her well. But If you can remember, when we act plays in our primary schools or secondary schools, before actors and actresse s are chosen, the real characters of people are first of all considered before any role is assigned. People that have criminal tendencies or that look brutal are normally given the role to enhance easier acting, the reason is so that the person combines his life character with the role to produce something that seems real in the drama. Those that are funny by nature also play FUNNY roles. Some schools that boys only normally choose boys that behave like women to act as girls, likewise in a school that is solely girls.

We are not trying to say that MAMA-G is wicked in reality but we are only trying to think. Secondly, nollywood is a different ball game, it is a career and as well a business. So based on that i do not think, we can correlate it with what we do in our schools and colleges.

So, over to you now, the reAder. Do you think PATIENCE OZOKWOR, MAMA-G, OR SUSU is wicked or strict, WITCH OR WIZARD  in real life just as she acts in her movies??

WHY PARENTS ARE BANNING THEIR CHILDREN FROM WATCHING NOLLYWOOD MOVIES!!!

widows cultTHIS SEEMS unbelievable, yet it is very true. nigerian parents are cautioning their children from watching Nigertian movies.

If you would remember, you will understand that nollywood was once a  movie industry that every parent allows their children to browse or discuss. This must not be unconnected to the fact that NOllyWOOd movies that you and I know before is not the same today. What actually happened is the question. Things have actually fallen apart in the much adorned NOLLYWOOD.

MOst nigerian Parents are moralists, even though some are hypocrites, and consequent upon that the moral aspect of every NOLLYwood movies becomes imperative and significant. Hardly will you see any Nigerian Movie that you will not see a man and woman having a kiss. This is either done directly or indirectly. Considering the Nigerian culture, kissing in public is usually considered abnormal or a taboo. However, in the westernized World which presumably NOLLYWOOd is imitating, kissing is part of life. NOLLYWOOD is trying to get westernized even more than the westerners. But that is not acceptable to an average Nigerian moral - conscious parent. To them watching a man woman kiss in public might instigate such immoral tendencies into their unsuspecting, young and innocent Children, which might be fatal inasmuch as our culture is concerned.

WHat about The issue of romance and s..x during movies? ANY NIGERIAN MOVIE THAT DOES NOT HAVE  A  S..XUAL INCLINATIONS DOES NOT ACTUALLY SELL...An average nigerian parent is very sensitive of this. THey do not want their children to spoil at a tender age, and asuch prevents them from watching MOVIES that contain such unclad exhibitions or shows. WEll I do not blame them for this. This because an averge Nigerian mother or Father always believe that having such an undue and immature as well as the untimely exposure to such images may lead to an untimely development of the s..xual hormones which will invariably lead to early manifestation of s...xual characteristics. Even though some people tag those immoral scene as " FILM TRICKS", that is not not the case, the most important thing is that it was done, whether real or not. After all the children will not have to have that mindset of deciphering over what they saw. All they will always do is to practicalise what they have watched.

THat is  not all. The worst part of it is that is that the male - female attractive complementarity is seeming to be waving out. That is no longer fashionable and economical. Thy are gradually graduating into GAY AND LESBIANISM IN NOLLYWOOD. In other words, it is now a man to man thing and woman to woman thing. God forbid!!!!!

We shall emphasize more on this HOMOs..xuality saga in our next edition..

THank you!

NOLLYWOOD:- BECOMING AN ACTOR IN NOLLYWOOD? HOW?

Who is an acTor? A male who acts in a drama, movie or play to entertain or educate the audience. In a simpler way, it is a female actor.

In recent times we have received incesssant messsages on how one can become an actor in nollywood. Prior to this, we have made some fruitful efforts to always keep our fans updated in all facets of nollywood updates.

Nollywood as we all know is the name of the almighty entertainment industry in Nigeria. Just like the Hollywood, Bollywood of the western world, the Nigerian entertainment industry is branded nollywood.

To become an ACTOR IN NOLLYWOOD is not any form a special deal. It does not require any form of special consideration, or condition required. The most important thing is that you are qualified all round.
1. You must possess the appropriate degrees/HND in appropriate courses such as THaetre and FILM STUDIES, ENGLISH AND LITERARY STUDIES, MASS COMMUNICATION, AND / OR ANY OTHER RELEVANT ARTS COURSES.
However as you should know, in Nigeria now what one studies does not solely determine the profession. But this profession of acting requires some special skills which may not be learnt in school.
Infact, academic qualification is not all that a major factor, because I know of many non-certificate holders who are ACTORS TODAY In NOLLYWOOD.

2. Secondly, for you to find your way into nollywood as an actor you must possess what i call inherent special skills in that field. It is not all about what you study in school, infact, what you study is just a mere certificate-based qualification. You are being judged on what you can perform out there on stage AS AN ACTOR. How are you able to thrill your audience? Are you able to keep them alert throughout your show? How can you keep them interested in what you do and make them flow with the current. That is the essence of the thing which nobody can lecture you in school.

3.YOU MUST HAVE A GOOD COMMAND OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE:Yes, mostly ladies have upper hand in this regard.
In Nigeria now, the only official language in use is our almighty English. Hence, you being an actor, you must be a good mass communicator. You must have at the back of your mind that many people of different languages will watch and listen to you; as such, you must posses an effective communication skill for you to feature in NOLLYWOOD INDUSTRY.

4. That is not all. Another important criterium is the interest. In life, interest is the bedrock of every human endeavour. Some are aspiring to become ACTORS today just because their parents told them to do so or just because their friends are also having the same line of thinking. That is a very wrong motive of it. It is not a crime for you to develop a likeness for something because your friend likes the thing. But it is a very big mistake for you to be living another person's life, that might be fatal. Discover or Rediscover whether your life is in acting or whether NOLLYWOOD has a place your passions before you you venture into NOLLYWOOD, so that you do not make mistakes that are irreversible.

5.CHOOSE A ROLE THAT YOU WILL FEATURE. If you are observant in NOLLYWOOD, you will bear with me that every actor has a peculiar role that he is known for. JOHN OKAFOR (Mr IBU) is known for his funny, foolish, stupid or sometimes bizzare roles. PATIENCE OZOKWOR,AKA SUSU, has this role of wickedness, strictness, witching, Wizardry. NGOZI EZEONU is sometimes known for mother roles, sometimes a queen, just as PETE EDOChIE has his native doctor inclinations, and this kingship roles. INI Edo, CHIKa IKE, OMOTALA, GENEVIEVE, CHIOMA CHUKwUka, EMEKA IKE, RAMSEY NOAH, DESMOND ELIOT and some others are love makers, romancers, and betrayers. Then the controversial AFROCANDY is a PO::nSTAR. So you as an up-coming actor, ought to have and as a matter of fact should have had an area of interest that favours you. Remember that any area you choose, should be in alignment with your life passions. To achieve your vision, follow your passion.

6. Once all these are in place, apply for a job in NOLLYWOOD, TELL NOLLYWOOD that you can do it. Let NOLLYWOOD be convinced that you really have something to offer. You can start by writing articles, movies or scripts for them; from there you get to familiarise youselves with some already-existing ACTRESSES in NOLLYWOOD. You can even plead to them to allow you feature in their movies for free, just to advertise yourself and also show them the stuff you are made of.

7. Finally pray hard as prayer is always the master key!

8. If you finally make it to the NOLLYWOOD, work hard, try as much as you can to distinguish yourself from the rest, it is v ery important because the competition is high. That is how those celebrities you do celebrate today worked out their own and it worked for them, try yours today, your case cannot be different. Wish you goodluck!
